"Ordinary happy moments are gifts rather than rewards"

Just a thought..."Playing hooky"… such a strange expression. Have you ever played hooky from work or school? I am sure at one point or another we all have. Life can be stressful and with all of the responsibilities that school and work bring, it’s nice to have a break sometimes.
*Put your feet up and take a breather with us this week!*

I found a very interesting article today about the hospitality industry....

“A picture may be worth a thousand words…but most hotel PR & Marketing managers today would be at a loss for words at the plague of user generated photos out on the Internet today.”

When searching the internet for Hotel Indigo Scottsdale I have found nothing, but positive beautiful images. Yes, great pictures from professional photographers do sell, but so do our guest photos found on various websites. What we provide on our internet is what you get when you stay at our hotel! Visit Trip Advisor for yourself… http://www.tripadvisor.com/Search?q=hotel+indigo+scottsdale

“Hoteliers may need to get used to the fact that competing with their ‘official’ previews of what to expect, past guests have provided quite an unflattering visual footprint for those to follow. It’s no secret that hotels pay thousands of dollars for painstakingly taken, doctored photos that would entice even the most hardened globetrotter to positively drool in anticipation…and hit that book button.”

You can read more about this at, http://www.hotelemarketer.com/hotel-internet-marketing/hotel-emarketing-best-practices/say-cheese-youre-on-candid-cam/

*~*I love Sundays. They are such wonderful lounge days. I spent most of mine by the pool, doing laundry, and attempting to clean my place. I think I am now watching my third DVD? Wow, how the day flies when you’re enjoying yourself.

**If you’re traveling and want a refreshing change from the ordinary hotels then stay a few nights at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale. The beds are very comfortable for anyone traveling on business and looking to feel the comforts of home. We are located in walking distance to all of the commotion, yet we are a diamond in the rough, available when you need a relaxing Friday or Saturday night instead of a wild one! We will bring you serenity! The atmosphere of our boutique hotel and friendly staff will leave you smiling, http://www.scottsdalehiphotel.com/reservations.php

*~Hope everyone is enjoying themselves this memorial weekend. In most states this marks the day that public pools open, as for us, it just means that the weather is going to get a whole heck of a lot hotter
It is funny to me, how easy it is to be lazy during the winter months in various cities and states where snow and cold weather occur, but here it is tempting to be lazy during our hot summer months. The warm weather and sun can really wear a person out. It makes me very sleepy at times and I just want to lay down and take a nap mid-day. I am struggling to stay active. I guess I should really just join a gym and get involved in some group fitness classes!

~*~It feels great to have the weekend off, but on the other hand I would almost rather have Monday or Tuesday for leisure. When it comes to Saturday and Sunday, well... people are everywhere! You wake up and want to go to brunch, you have to wait, crave dinner at the new hotspot? On that occasion you also have to wait! Dying to see that new movie? Well then plan to get there early enough, especially if it is opening weekend, because the seats fill up fast!
Trying to find somewhere to eat last night without much of crowd or a long wait was exhausting and like finding a needle in a haystack. My suggestion is make a reservation! There is a great website called OpenTable which assists very well in this department, http://www.opentable.com/start.aspx?m=50. Check it out. As for last night, we spent over an hour with stomachs grumbling and ended up ordering takeout at Pei Wei!

*~*Thursdays in the valley are a day to party and more than ever when coming into a three-day holiday weekend.*~*

...Shocking, but yet insanely happy that Kris Allen took the title last night in American Idol. It just goes to show that Adam should not have considered himself a shoe-in and that cockiness does not always get you far. Overall, both were very talented.

There are several parties this weekend…pull out the dancing shoes and get ready to have an all out crazy time!
  • Tonight the only place to be is Cream Lounge when it transforms into Candyland. The whole place will be sweet with candy all over the place and exotic colors. This may very well be one of the biggest parties of the year with special DJ’s and performances. This event will be unlike anything…feeling like you’re in the movies.

**Hotel Indigo Scottsdale is where you should book your hotel this weekend. The hotel’s customer service survey scores another 100 percent with a new guest. The hotel appeals to many ages as this guest was 60 plus.

Take pleasure in outgoingness during your stay…
“We have never stayed at a more friendly Hotel, we felt like family and sooo special.”

A staff that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy…
“Dillion and John, Chris in the lounge were so great, always out going and interested in us.”

A smooth, efficient, and friendly front desk…
“The check in also could not do enough for us, so friendly.”

Our managers will even make time to meet with you…
“We also met the manager and assistant general mgr. Michael Loffredo. What GREAT people.”

We thank our guests for the positive comments!

“Thank you again for a wonderful 9 days at your Hotel.”

*All hotel prices are quoted on advance online purchase.*

“Love life and life will love you back. Love people and they will love you back.”
~Arthur Rubinstein

*The world is buzzing over American Idol. My opinion... I believe that Adam will probably win as he seems to have the most followers, but I would love to see Kris win. His voice is soothing and original and I think he is much more talented!   Not only can he sing, but he also plays the piano and the guitar. Overall, both contestants are incredible! I just want the underdog to win it all.*

?!The new show Glee... now it started off a bit slow, but I always enjoy talented people who can sing and dance. I think the show could be great, but then it could also be a dud, only time will tell! I think it might have done better if it started in the summer, where it would have less competition, nevertheless we will have to wait and see?!

I love how exciting television can be. We get wrapped up into the lives of fake people and yet look forward to seeing what happens week after week. I think it gives us all something to do and adds a little structure into our lives.

Memorial Weekend... be apart of it all, but also remember what this day stands for. It is to commemorate U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. Offer your support to those who have been affected!
  • Book a room at Hotel Indigo for $67.00 a night for a standard room and $97.00 a night for a suite! You cannot beat the price for a boutique hotel located in the heart of trendy downtown Scottsdale.
  • This weekend join the hotel for Bossa Nova Lounge on Friday starting at 7:30 PM!
  • Float down the Salt River while listening to live entertainment, receiving free prizes, and tossing beach balls around the water.
  • Friday night party at Crown Room. Listen to music by DJ'S Dave Matthias and Dan Martinez. The special of the night is $50 tables and $5 you call it drinks all night long. Party starts at 9 PM.
  • Saturday party with celebrity host Tiffany Wade from Beauty and the Geek and Marcus Trufant of the Seattle Seahaws. Music by DJ Slippe and DJ Gable. Doors open at 8 PM. For more information visit, http://www.e4-az.com/
  • Sunday night is the Memorial day blowout presented by Steve Levine Entertainment at Axis-Radius. The party features J Alan.

Happy Monday! Hope that you start the week of just right. If you are staying with us for business or pleasure this week, our staff will surely take care of you!

"Where there is love there is life."Mahatma Gandhi

**Join us for Bossa Nova Lounge this weekend! It is held on the second and fourth Friday of every month. The party is always hopping and it is a great chance to meet a diverse group of people. DJ Seduce and Som Brasil are wonderful.
The sounds are soothing and you cannot beat the beautiful patio and hotel atmosphere. There is plenty of time to go out afterwards so start the night off just right.**

Restaurants to try in Downtown Scottsdale if you’re in town…
  • Oregano’s Pizza Bistro is a pizza place favorite for all. The pizza is delicious, the appetizers are tasty especially the Brushetta, and the dessert is delectable. The restaurant is busy on any day of the week, but beat the crowd by eating an early or late dinner. This place is priced very reasonably!

  • Old Town Tortilla Factory is a perfect spot for happy hour. The patio is beautiful with drop lights, a water fountain, and the patio is very spacious. The service is very good and the margaritas are yummy. The price is more than Oreganos, at about $15-$30 an entrĂ©e, but happy hour offers great specials.

  • Sushi Brokers is probably one of the best sushi places in Scottsdale. The atmosphere is calm, the music is amazing, and the sushi is delectable. The Sake is tasty and happy hour offers many great specials. They have some mouth-watering one-of-a-kind rolls for all to enjoy. If you’re a sushi fan than this is the spot for you!

  • If you’re looking to wine and dine then Drinkwater’s City Hall Steak House is for you. The location is in a prime spot in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale and the interior scene is beautiful. The steak and sides are luscious and their wine list is great. They also have good service to make the experience the all better.

What are you doing for Memorial Day? Grab an affordable room at Hotel Indigo.

Saturday, May 16, 2009

Happy Saturday! I hope that you are beating the heat and staying cool either indoor or on some activity that involves water. I know personally, that I am going to grab my raft and lay in the water so that I don't fry and burn myself on a lawn chair, as I usually tend to do! I never sizzled myself on a lawn chair until I moved out to Phoenix, that sort of stuff just doesn't happen in the midwest!

Hotel Indigo Scottsdale recent customer reviews...

"This hotel is a "keeper" and we will positively return on future visits."

"Everyone at the hotel was exceptionally friendly, especially the bar tenders who seemed to be in a perpetual good moods."
**I completely agree with this comment! Last weekend when I visited Bossa Nova Lounge, the bartenders were dancing, singing, and smiling while bringing guests their beverages. It really made me enjoy the atmosphere and the hotel!

"Very nice hotel filled with great personalities. Everyone my husband and I came in contact with was delightful."

What to do this weekend...?!?!
  • Axis-Radius on Saturday nights is always a lively place to be. With loud music, VIP tables, and crowds of sexy men and women it is a great choice for a fun night out! This club features a video DJ, UV Ultralounge, stripper pole box, go-go dancers, and two clubs for one cover. For more information and pictures visit, http://www.axis-radius.com/
  • Take part in the free Sunday evening concert series at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. This event runs on Sunday evenings, from 7:30 to 9 PM. This Sunday the band Take it to the Limit is playing. Take part in $2 train rides and $1 carousel rides. Bring a picnic basket or purchase food at the park. Call 480-312-2312 for more information!
  • This is a new Scottsdale event! The Estate House in Old Town brings you Scottsdale's ultra lounge for the fashion forward crowd. This event starts at 9 PM and features several resident DJ's. Listen to house music all night, eat food that is served till 12 AM, and chill out in a comfortable lounge setting. Great way to end the weekend and start the work week. *~*Happy Thirsty Thursday to everyone in the valley! Hope that the week has been treating everyone favorably and that you have had sometime for rest and relaxation. Spent the last few days in Vegas and I am exhausted. Not a great way to head into the weekend, but if anything, I am thankful to be back in Scottsdale. I SO much prefer living here to almost any place! The only thing better in Vegas was the temperature, well and the all night partying.

In a city where the temperature rises over 100 degrees everyday it is a necessity to stay cool during the long and sometimes drawn out summer months. The weather is warm and it is time to hit the water scene. If your visiting Arizona and your looking for a way to stay refreshed then here are a few options for you...
  • Salt River Tubing is always a blast, a sunburn, a chance to hang out with friends or meet new people, and all-day drinking! Beat the heat and drift down the river. The crowds on the river start to form after memorial day, so try it this weekend or next if your not into swarms of people! The price is reasonable at $15 per tube. The river is open seven days a week from 9 AM to 6:30 PM! http://www.saltrivertubing.com/
  • Poolside concerts all summer long at Hotel Valley Ho in Downtown Scottsdale. Elvis Before Noon plays while guests catch some sun and savor food and drink specials during the performance. Performances are Fridays from 4 PM to 9 PM.
  • The re-done/new Phoenix waterpark called Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix is going to have a variety of new water slides to keep Arizona summer a little cooler. The park will have a wave pool, body slides, lazy river, a crazy looking funnel ride, and many more.
Other ideas...
-Cosmic bowling is always a great alternative! You can enjoy beers, pizza, nachos, black lights, and late-night games. http://www.amf.com/corporate/index.htm
-Arizona Diamondbacks is always a fun alternative. INSIDE STADIUM is a huge plus!  Have a ball with various D-Backs packages. http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=ari

HAPPY MONDAY!

After a long couple of weeks I am finally going to catch a break! I have a few days off and a couple more visitors in town...yes I deserve the award for tour guide of the year, having guest after guest, but I love it! PLUS, its an excuse to take off work. I try to make lists of activities and schedules of daily evens, yeah I get a little crazy ha, nevertheless everyone always has a fantastic time. Including myself! I try to get creative and I think I get better week after week, thinking of newer and better things to do around the valley.

...Tonight, Monday, we are planning on catching a happy hour somewhere, possibly Zipps Sports Grill, with $5.00 wings and honestly one of the most reasonable happy hours that I have ever been too; $3.50 32oz Domestic Drafts, $3 Zipparitas, $2.50 well drinks, and more from 3-7 PM!
Then we are going to head over to Martini Ranch to see Julien K perform with The Attitude, Bella Lune, and Tatem," at 8 PM. This should be a great show and a good way to wipe away those manic Monday blues! This event is $8 in advance and $10 at the door in Old Town Scottsdale. This is a wonderful place for live music; with two floors, three bars, comfortable patio, and VIP seating! You can catch some really fantastic musical acts...James Morrison was recently spotted there and in the past Coldplay, Mandy Moore, etc! http://www.myspace.com/julienk

Next were off to Vegas for a few days! Very excited, awesome mid-week specials.

After that we booked a room at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale for $75 on Friday night! Talk about an incredible deal. All the surrounding hotels, for the same area or farther, start at least in the mid $150's. I cannot imagine finding a better deal for such an amazing hotel. I love the Indigo and I am very excited to show it off to my family.

Friday I am tempted to check out Drift Bar and Restaurant for happy hour with excellent drink and food specials. The oceanside atmosphere and drinks with pineapple juice are what draw me in!
Before we head out into Scottsdale's famous nightlife, we are going to catch drink specials in the Divine Lounge with $3 domestics and $4 well cocktails. This is a perfect way to start off the evening before we walk over to Axis-Radius for their Paradiso night. Featuring Lil Jon and Eve and a live performance. The party is probably going to be pretty crazy featuring DJ J Alan. For more information visit, http://www.axis-radius.com/event.php?pic=ARWeeklyParadisoGirls.jpg&event=Paradiso%20Girls&date=May%2015

**I hope that everyone has a wonderful day.  Don't forget to plan early for memorial weekend**

Saturday, May 9, 2009

*~*Catch "early bird" drink specials tonight in the Divine Lounge from 9 PM -12 AM. Sip on $3 domestics and $4 well cocktails.*~*

Last night I went out to Old Town and had a great time. We started the night off at Stingray Sushi which was by far one of the best sushi places I had been to in a long time! The funny thing, is that I don't even really like sushi, but I always agree to go for the sake and Sapporo beer.  Plus, I had a friend in town and he was in the mood for sushi. I was really impressed with everything overall and so was my guest in from Ohio. The wait was suppose to be like some 25 minutes, but they got us in, in probably about 15 minutes and this was a Friday night. We asked for first available and landed an amazing spot on the patio. The staff was really fantastic...our waitress was really great, the hostess were lovely, and the manager as well. I felt very taken care of overall and the sushi was very fresh! I did learn that I do not like octopus very much, but the spicy crab roll was delicious and so was the Las Vegas roll (I believe that is the name?)
...P.S. When you first walk beware of the aquarium built into the floor...I felt like I was going to trip or fall into the water! And on my way out after a few sake bombs... I seriously felt like I was going to take a swim, ha.

We then visited Hotel Indigo Scottsdale to catch the end of Afro:Baile Record's Bossa Nova Lounge. We arrived a little after 10 and the place was still full of guests. Everyone looked like they were having a terrific time and all seemed very comfortable and relaxed. We missed the band by a hair, but did enjoy DJ Seduce. http://www.myspace.com/djseduce
The vibe was pleasant and both of my friends really adored the atmosphere and loved the outdoor terrace. There were some really cute sandals for sale and various other items that I did not get a chance to look at.

...The night received a lot of positive feedback from guests...

"We had an excellent time"

“ Lovely night"

After our visit to Hotel Indigo we then attempted to move to the W, where on Friday and Saturday nights, you apparently have to be a guest or buy a table to even get inside? It was a tad bit frustrating and I think a little overboard, but oh well I guess our guest would miss out on the "typical" Scottsdale crowd. No big deal!

Lastly, we headed to the waterfront area and stopped at my favorite restaurant, Olive and Ivy. The inside was dead, but the lush and beautiful outside patio which overlooks the canal was packed. We searched for open chairs and couches, but ended up siting in-between two couples, a little awkward, but it was the only spot available! The good thing is our waitress was phenomenal and carried a smile even though she was running around the entire night! I love great service. We got our drinks and dessert quickly and she even made sure we put in orders before last call was over. Overall, the night was fantastic and Downtown, Scottsdale was surely the place to be.

**I felt like I was in Hollywood or Vegas...there were lines everywhere! From Axis-Radius, to Pussycat Lounge to Crown Room, but everyone was all smiles. Parking started to get full around 10ish, but there is valet and bike service everywhere! I love going out in this area because I always discover new hidden secrets.  There is a variety of ages and the dress code bears no limit! You can dress however you want and receive little judgement, this was very refreshing!  Every time I go out to downtown Scottsdale I have a marvelous evening and meet a lot of new people.

**Weekend deals are hot at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale! And when I say hot, I mean like $67-$75 dollars for a room. This is with advance purchase and that was about two weeks in advance, give or take. When I looked up reservations the weekend brought a better deal than the weekday.**

**There seems to be a theme this week with Cinco de Mayo right around the corner.... everyone has gone Cinco de Mayo crazy! From cocktails to special nights devoted to celebrating the Mexican holiday. The festival commemorates their defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. This holiday is important for two reasons; first, Mexicans were outnumbered two-to-one to the French army who had no defeat for almost 50 years and second, it was the last time an army from another continent invaded the Americas.

Bars, Hotels, and Clubs getting into the Spirit...
  • Roaring Fork, Wildfish Seafood Grille, and Eddie V's Edgewater Grill are bringing Cinco martinis to celebrate the holiday. It is $12 per drink and runs through May 9th. Drinks like, Elderberry Martini, Madras Crush, and other specialty theme cocktails are available.
  • Los Sombreros features $5 food and drink specials.
  • Flicka's Baja Cantina starts at 5 PM with a complimentary buffet, $1 tacos, $3 Red Bull vodkas, $2 Tecate, and $5 Smirnoff cosmos. Enjoy live music and a crazy dance floor. The bar is laid back and will make you feel like your on vacation!
  • Another large party is at Salty Senorita featuring "Senoritaville." Starting at 11 AM and running through 2 AM with an outdoor stage that extends into the parking lot, an assortment of music, and cheap drink and food specials. Enjoy music from Metalhead, The Spazmatics, and Dj Diesel. This is for the Old Town location! http://saltysenorita.com/cinco09/location_oldtown.html
  • Two-for-one Tuesday drink specials at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale in the Divine Lounge...perfect way to start or end the evenin
