*~Hope everyone is enjoying themselves this memorial weekend. In most states this marks the day that public pools open, as for us, it just means that the weather is going to get a whole heck of a lot hotter
It is funny to me, how easy it is to be lazy during the winter months in various cities and states where snow and cold weather occur, but here it is tempting to be lazy during our hot summer months. The warm weather and sun can really wear a person out. It makes me very sleepy at times and I just want to lay down and take a nap mid-day. I am struggling to stay active. I guess I should really just join a gym and get involved in some group fitness classes!

~*~It feels great to have the weekend off, but on the other hand I would almost rather have Monday or Tuesday for leisure. When it comes to Saturday and Sunday, well... people are everywhere! You wake up and want to go to brunch, you have to wait, crave dinner at the new hotspot? On that occasion you also have to wait! Dying to see that new movie? Well then plan to get there early enough, especially if it is opening weekend, because the seats fill up fast!
Trying to find somewhere to eat last night without much of crowd or a long wait was exhausting and like finding a needle in a haystack. My suggestion is make a reservation! There is a great website called OpenTable which assists very well in this department, http://www.opentable.com/start.aspx?m=50. Check it out. As for last night, we spent over an hour with stomachs grumbling and ended up ordering takeout at Pei Wei!

“Love life and life will love you back. Love people and they will love you back.”
~Arthur Rubinstein

*The world is buzzing over American Idol. My opinion... I believe that Adam will probably win as he seems to have the most followers, but I would love to see Kris win. His voice is soothing and original and I think he is much more talented!   Not only can he sing, but he also plays the piano and the guitar. Overall, both contestants are incredible! I just want the underdog to win it all.*

?!The new show Glee... now it started off a bit slow, but I always enjoy talented people who can sing and dance. I think the show could be great, but then it could also be a dud, only time will tell! I think it might have done better if it started in the summer, where it would have less competition, nevertheless we will have to wait and see?!

I love how exciting television can be. We get wrapped up into the lives of fake people and yet look forward to seeing what happens week after week. I think it gives us all something to do and adds a little structure into our lives.

Memorial Weekend... be apart of it all, but also remember what this day stands for. It is to commemorate U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. Offer your support to those who have been affected!

**Join us for Bossa Nova Lounge this weekend! It is held on the second and fourth Friday of every month. The party is always hopping and it is a great chance to meet a diverse group of people. DJ Seduce and Som Brasil are wonderful.
The sounds are soothing and you cannot beat the beautiful patio and hotel atmosphere. There is plenty of time to go out afterwards so start the night off just right.**

Restaurants to try in Downtown Scottsdale if you’re in town…
  • Oregano’s Pizza Bistro is a pizza place favorite for all. The pizza is delicious, the appetizers are tasty especially the Brushetta, and the dessert is delectable. The restaurant is busy on any day of the week, but beat the crowd by eating an early or late dinner. This place is priced very reasonably!

  • Old Town Tortilla Factory is a perfect spot for happy hour. The patio is beautiful with drop lights, a water fountain, and the patio is very spacious. The service is very good and the margaritas are yummy. The price is more than Oreganos, at about $15-$30 an entrĂ©e, but happy hour offers great specials.

  • Sushi Brokers is probably one of the best sushi places in Scottsdale. The atmosphere is calm, the music is amazing, and the sushi is delectable. The Sake is tasty and happy hour offers many great specials. They have some mouth-watering one-of-a-kind rolls for all to enjoy. If you’re a sushi fan than this is the spot for you!

  • If you’re looking to wine and dine then Drinkwater’s City Hall Steak House is for you. The location is in a prime spot in the heart of Downtown Scottsdale and the interior scene is beautiful. The steak and sides are luscious and their wine list is great. They also have good service to make the experience the all better.

What are you doing for Memorial Day? Grab an affordable room at Hotel Indigo.

*~*Happy Thirsty Thursday to everyone in the valley! Hope that the week has been treating everyone favorably and that you have had sometime for rest and relaxation. Spent the last few days in Vegas and I am exhausted. Not a great way to head into the weekend, but if anything, I am thankful to be back in Scottsdale. I SO much prefer living here to almost any place! The only thing better in Vegas was the temperature, well and the all night partying.

In a city where the temperature rises over 100 degrees everyday it is a necessity to stay cool during the long and sometimes drawn out summer months. The weather is warm and it is time to hit the water scene. If your visiting Arizona and your looking for a way to stay refreshed then here are a few options for you...
  • Salt River Tubing is always a blast, a sunburn, a chance to hang out with friends or meet new people, and all-day drinking! Beat the heat and drift down the river. The crowds on the river start to form after memorial day, so try it this weekend or next if your not into swarms of people! The price is reasonable at $15 per tube. The river is open seven days a week from 9 AM to 6:30 PM! http://www.saltrivertubing.com/
  • Poolside concerts all summer long at Hotel Valley Ho in Downtown Scottsdale. Elvis Before Noon plays while guests catch some sun and savor food and drink specials during the performance. Performances are Fridays from 4 PM to 9 PM.
  • The re-done/new Phoenix waterpark called Wet 'n' Wild Phoenix is going to have a variety of new water slides to keep Arizona summer a little cooler. The park will have a wave pool, body slides, lazy river, a crazy looking funnel ride, and many more.
