I just wish this hot summer weather would go away! I think we've all had enough of the summer. I want to be able to bike ride, hike, and run outside without having to wake up at the crack of dawn-oh the winter months are heavenly here! I've been playing tennis at 7 a.m. and lets just say that I'm no morning person.

• Safeway grocery stores are having a fantastic 72 hour sale this weekend. They have some wonderful specials on beer, grapes, turkey, and a few other hot items! Be sure to check it! Also, Albertsons is selling 24 packs of Budweiser and Bud Light for $14.88 through August 25th! 
• Got a flyer for the restaurant Claim Jumper and they have a wonderful splash of summer happy hour. They have items starting at $1.50 Monday-Friday 3:30-7 PM. They also have a reverse happy hour from 9:30 - close. These specials are only available in their Saloon area. Items include White Sangria for $4.95, giant pretzels for $1.50, calamari for $6.75, California Quesadilla for $3.95, and many more.
• If your craving pizza then try New York Pizza Dept. (NYPD). On Sundays they have large house or caesar salads for 99 cents wtih an order of Pasta Famiglia. Every night they offer different specials such as glasses of wine for $3.99 after 4 pm on Thursdays.

Stay cool this weekend...

• Native American Arts, Crafts, & Jewelry Show starts today through December 18th. This event is held on the 3rd weekend of every month. Fridays from 12-6 pm, Saturday 9-6 pm, and Sunday 10 - 5 pm. This is held at the Radisson Fort McDowell Resort. Call 800-715-0328 for more information. 
• Visit the "Every Picture Tells a Story," at the Heard Museum from 9:30-5 pm daily. The admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for students, and $3 for children 6-12. Children under the age of 6 are free! Call 602-252-8848. 
• Check out the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park. It is open daily through December 31st. The price is $5 for adults and children under 5 are free. The exhibit is hands-on and there is something for every age. Be sure to check out their photo-murals and pottery designs! 

Saturday night parties...

• Two clubs with one cover, Axis-Radius, a fun place to dance and let loose. This club features VIP bottle service, Vegas style GoGo Dancers, fantastic dance music, and comfortable affordable VIP tables. 
• Suede, the Euro-Asian Restaurant and lounge, is a fun spot to be on Saturday nights. This place is full of people on the weekends and has a more intimate feel with its dim lit lighting.
• Crown Room in-front of the hotel is another weekend hot spot. This is more of a relaxing setting, not the nightclub type atmosphere, but is packed full of people with a variety of ages.

Boy oh boy is it a hot one today! The summer has officially arrived and will probably be around until September. What should you do tonight to avoid it? See a movie! RaNdOm Thoughts...I found myself today thinking a lot about the future and thinking about what I wanted out of career, besides my dream to solely be a writer-which might take a while...so I typed in "cool jobs." because I want to do something that I love and not just settle for the first position to come along or the best paycheck. We all dream of having that awesome/fun/exciting career, but how do you find it? Let's see what I find...

In general...all the fastest growing jobs seem to be in the medical field, from nurses to dental assistants to home health aides and a few in the computer/techy industry.

*~Hope everyone is enjoying themselves this memorial weekend. In most states this marks the day that public pools open, as for us, it just means that the weather is going to get a whole heck of a lot hotter. 

   It is funny to me, how easy it is to be lazy during the winter months in various cities and states where snow and cold weather occur, but here it is tempting to be lazy during our hot summer months. The warm weather and sun can really wear a person out. It makes me very sleepy at times and I just want to lay down and take a nap mid-day. I am struggling to stay active. I guess I should really just join a gym and get involved in some group fitness classes!

~*~It feels great to have the weekend off, but on the other hand I would almost rather have Monday or Tuesday for leisure. When it comes to Saturday and Sunday, well... people are everywhere! You wake up and want to go to brunch, you have to wait, crave dinner at the new hotspot? On that occasion you also have to wait! Dying to see that new movie? Well then plan to get there early enough, especially if it is opening weekend, because the seats fill up fast! 

  Trying to find somewhere to eat last night without much of crowd or a long wait was exhausting and like finding a needle in a haystack. My suggestion is make a reservation! There is a great website called OpenTable which assists very well in this department, http://www.opentable.com/start.aspx?m=50. Check it out. As for last night, we spent over an hour with stomachs grumbling and ended up ordering takeout at Pei Wei!

**Scottsdale is a city of many colors. Its sometimes judged only by its reputation for having a great nightlife, but there's much more to it than that! Yes, there might be pretty people in almost every bar and restaurant, but past the blonde hair and tan skin there is so much more! A little something for everyone, yes, kids included.

• For the music lover, you can always catch a good band at Martini Ranch. Tonight Metalhead is the cover band and it starts at 8 PM. End the weekend with some good music, friends, and a drink or two. The price won't break the bank at only $5!
  
• For the artist in everyone check out the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art with its "Seriously Funny" exhibit! Take the family to view these brilliant works of art. This new show will induce humor on some of life's most difficult issues, running daily through May 24th.
  
• The wine lover should check out Kazimierz World Wine Bar. Tonight the dancer in all of us will be revealed when members of the Flamenco music and dance troupe perform their live tonight. Enjoy the Spanish guitar, maracas, and technicolor dresses. The band will invite people on stage to join in and try some moves. The event starts at 9PM and is $5. http://www.caloflamenco.com/
  
• There is even something for those single guys and gals! Scottsdale Ranch Park presents Unstrung Rackets Open Tennis where single men and women meet up to play social mixed doubles. Sign-up and warm-up both begin at 6 PM.

Upcoming Events
-Western Culinary Festival March 14th 11 AM to 4 PM. This event is held at the Phoenix Art Museum and runs between $22-$150. The event will host 60 Arizona chefs and will have samples of over 100 different wines and spirits. The festival will also feature live music, an art show, and hands-on demonstrations.
