HAPPY SATURDAY

My Friends and I at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale last fall!

One of our many beautifully designed rooms.

"Judge me all you want, but keep the verdict to yourself."

"lets toast till we die"

I hope that you're having a fantastic weekend!

I just wish this hot summer weather would go away! I think we've all had enough of the summer. I want to be able to bike ride, hike, and run outside without having to wake up at the crack of dawn-oh the winter months are heavenly here! I've been playing tennis at 7 a.m. and lets just say that I'm no morning person.

Some hot weekly deals...
  • Safeway grocery stores are having a fantastic 72 hour sale this weekend. They have some wonderful specials on beer, grapes, turkey, and a few other hot items! Be sure to check it! Also, Albertsons is selling 24 packs of Budweiser and Bud Light for $14.88 through August 25th!
  • Got a flyer for the restaurant Claim Jumper and they have a wonderful splash of summer happy hour. They have items starting at $1.50 Monday-Friday 3:30-7 PM. They also have a reverse happy hour from 9:30 - close. These specials are only available in their Saloon area. Items include White Sangria for $4.95, giant pretzels for $1.50, calamari for $6.75, California Quesadilla for $3.95, and many more.
  • If your craving pizza then try New York Pizza Dept. (NYPD). On Sundays they have large house or caesar salads for 99 cents wtih an order of Pasta Famiglia. Every night they offer different specials such as glasses of wine for $3.99 after 4 pm on Thursdays.
Stay cool this weekend...
  • Native American Arts, Crafts, & Jewelry Show starts today through December 18th. This event is held on the 3rd weekend of every month. Fridays from 12-6 pm, Saturday 9-6 pm, and Sunday 10 - 5 pm. This is held at the Radisson Fort McDowell Resort. Call 800-715-0328 for more information.
  • Visit the "Every Picture Tells a Story," at the Heard Museum from 9:30-5 pm daily. The admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for students, and $3 for children 6-12. Children under the age of 6 are free! Call 602-252-8848.
  • Check out the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park. It is open daily through December 31st. The price is $5 for adults and children under 5 are free. The exhibit is hands-on and there is something for every age. Be sure to check out their photo-murals and pottery designs!
Saturday night parties...
  • Two clubs with one cover, Axis-Radius, a fun place to dance and let loose. This club features VIP bottle service, Vegas style GoGo Dancers, fantastic dance music, and comfortable affordable VIP tables.
  • Suede, the Euro-Asian Restaurant and lounge, is a fun spot to be on Saturday nights. This place is full of people on the weekends and has a more intimate feel with its dim lit lighting.
  • Crown Room in-front of the hotel is another weekend hot spot. This is more of a relaxing setting, not the nightclub type atmosphere, but is packed full of people with a variety of ages.
*~*Start the night off in our Divine Lounge.  We run drink specials all weekend!*~*

Its the weekend so lets find out what there is to do in this town...
  • First off the list of movies coming out is endless! If you are debating about whether or not to see Time Travelers Wife or Ponyo with the children then read the Phoenix Metromix movie reviews at http://phoenix.metromix.com/movies/editorial_reviews/collection. Apparently Bandslam with Vanessa Hudgens and Lisa Kudrow is a pleasant surprise. Go figure?
  • We also have the Phoenix Suns Dancers tryouts this weekend! If you have the skill and the moves to dance your way onto the hottest dance team in the valley, then why not give it a shot on Saturday, August 15th at 8:30 a.m. at the US Airways Center. http://www.nba.com/suns/dance/auditions0910.html
  • House 7340 vs. fauxShow at Axis/Radius is always a fun place to be on Friday nights. The bar/nightclub is always packed with smiling faces, pretty people, and excellent dance music. Tonight, indie rock meets techno-trance in an epic dance-off!
  • Scottsdale's newest upscale event is here...The Estate House Upstairs is the place to be on Sunday night! This is an industry night for the "fashion forward crowd." Listen to music, food served until 12a.m., and chill out with friends from 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. First 50 guests get a free mix-CD! http://www.estatehouseaz.com/. This is a 21+ event.
Are you a go green fan? Then attend the solar energy lecture on August 20th at the Granite Reef Senior Center. This is a free lecture titled "Building & Energy-It Matters." If you would like additional information then you can call 480-312-7080. Reservations are not required.

Stay up to date with a weekly newsletter from the City of Scottsdale, http://eservices.ScottsdaleAZ.gov/listserve/default.asp. They will inform you of volunteer opportunities, road closings, clothing drives, and everything in-between.

Hope you have a fantastic and safe weekend!  Relax!

*~*Manic Monday*~*

Funny quotes for some back to school fun…

“If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers.” ~Edgar W. Howe

“Labor Day is a glorious holiday because your child will be going back to school the next day. It would have been called Independence Day, but that name was already taken.” ~Bill Dodds

...Today is back to school for the entire Scottsdale district. This may be a relief for some and a rush for others! I cannot believe how early some of the schools are starting this year, I mean especially when the weather is still triple digits, and the children are outside playing! That’s crazy and not like it use to be, when Labor Day weekend marked the beginning of the school year. Back to work for the teachers as well. I’m sure the novelty of vacation has worn off by now. I assume that it was enough sleeping in for the summer.

Are you looking for the best happy hours in the valley?
  • Are you craving a delicious brewed beer? Yardhouse is a perfect spot with their happy hour specials and large list of beers. Best thing of all? They have happy hour twice a day from 3-6 PM Monday through Friday and 10 PM to midnight Sundays through Thursday. They are located in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall and offer specials such as $3.25 pints and half off appetizers. This is a sports bar type atmosphere.
  • Do you want a long and extended happy hour? Made for those of us who take a little bit longer to get ready, then check out Mickey’s Hangover from 4 to 9 PM. All drinks and appetizers are half off. This is a younger crowd with bucket of beers discounted.
  • For the biker in all of us visit Billet Bar in North Scottsdale. You will see beautiful motorcycles, domestics for $2.75 from 4 to 8 PM, great patio, and sushi from RA brought right to your flame decorated booths. www.azbilletbar.com
  • The music lover will enjoy a happy hour at Devil’s Martini. They have a variety of bands both local and popular with an all night happy hour every Thursday from 4 PM to close. Appetizers are half-off and drinks are 2-for-1. www.devilsmartini.com

If you are looking for a job then be sure to check the city of Scottsdale for their weekly updates. You can even be on their emailing list, http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/hr/jobs

Do you want to get involved in your community by getting more physically fit? Then join a team!
