-Did you know... that Thanksgiving didn't become an official national holiday until more than 200 years later, when in 1863 President Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday of November a national day of thanksgiving.

-Mashed potatoes, pumpkin pies, popcorn, milk, corn on the cob, and cranberries were not foods present on the first Thanksgiving's feast table.  Lobster, rabbit, chicken, fish, squashes, beans, chestnuts, hickory nuts, onions, leeks, dried fruits, maple syrup and honey, radishes, cabbage, carrots, eggs, and goat cheese are thought to have made up the first Thanksgiving feast.

-The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade tradition began in the 1920's.

-Each year, the average American eats somewhere between 16 - 18 pounds of turkey.

-Turkeys have poor night vision

-Turkeys can drown if they look up when it is raining....BY FAR THE BEST FACT!

With the holidays just around the corner we all realize how important our family and friends are.  Soon we will all be enjoying a large feast among our friends and family, and it's important to think about giving thanks to those who matter the most. What are you thankful for?  This year try to stay positive and share your dreams instead of the flip side, complaining!

***Quote of the day***

Most of the time people see the past better than it actually was, the present worse than it is, and forget to believe that the future will be resolved.  Everyday we must remember to focus on the journey of life and see that the future will bring everyone endless possibilities.

These days many people are being faced with the dimness of the economic depression, but through the tough times there are businesses who won't suffer and those who won't be affected, so try to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  We should all remember to smile and keep enjoying life because everyday is a blessing.  Let's all try to keep our faith in the future of America and continue to enjoy our everyday activities.

For people who tend to overspend on their nights of fun or those in denial about no longer being rich, go and enjoy a Luxury Martini at Capital Grille in North Scottsdale for $1000.00, yes that is correct $1000.00!  For the majority of us who have to tighten our belts there are endless activities all over the valley; world-class 5-star restaurant The Original Pancake House on Camelback, one of the 125 art galleries, studios, and museums in Scottsdale is another enjoyable activity, various concerts or theatrical plays in the area is always a great choice, mixing up the workout routine with a mountain-bike ride, or one could never go wrong with partying in Scottsdale where the sun never sets.

Scottsdale known at times as a mini LA or Beverly Hills is made up of more than snobby people!  It is an oasis comprised of beautiful landscapes and alluring hotels where one can enjoy a combination of solitude and fun.  Enjoy Hotel Indigo's idyllic pool area, comfortable lounge bar, and up-beat atmosphere with a design like no other.  Walking distance to the area's best shopping, stunning art galleries, and three of the cities most trendiest night clubs, E-4, Axis/Radius, and Myst, is very alluring.

Want to enjoy something completely new? Enjoy oddball arizona activities from Burro shows to Motel Tepees... http://www.azcentral.com/travel/visitor/oddballaz/travel_oddballazindex.html

Keep in mind that it's not to early to think about booking a hotel for the holidays or the fiesta bowl in one of the world's most livable cities, Scottsdale.

Tourism agency taps into social-networking tools

SCOTTSDALE - The Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau is turning to more online marketing strategies to attract tourists.

The bureau launched a new blog, Facebook fan page, Flickr photo stream, YouTube channel and Twitter account to promote Scottsdale as a world-class travel destination, said the group responsible for bringing in 7 million tourists a year.

"These channels allow us to offer the Scottsdale brand where potential visitors spend their time online," said Josh Kenzer, online marketing manager at the bureau. "Through online social networking, we can provide the Scottsdale experience, bring visitors back to our Web site and engage them in conversations."

The following outlets were chosen because they allow for user feedback and visitor interaction. Additional sites will be considered to ensure the CVB is reaching its customers through the online communities in which they already belong.

Blog: blog.scottsdalecvb.com, a supplement to the CVB Web site, allows for two-way conversations where readers post comments, feedback and questions about member events and Scottsdale news. Content is supplied by the CVB.

Facebook: At www.scottsdalecvb.com/facebook, Scottsdale fans share their own videos, photos and links and connect with each other on their destination experiences.

Flickr: Photos at flickr.com/photos/scottsdale-arizona/ includes candid shots of Scottsdale activities.

YouTube: Videos at www.youtube.com/user/ScottsdaleCVB showcase Scottsdale's tourism amenities, events and members.

Twitter: Daily updates at www.twitter.com/scottsdaleaz feature what's happening in Scottsdale.
