*~*Hotel Indigo’s Divine Lounge brings you two-for-one Tuesdays on your favorite well drinks and domestics*~*

The community of Scottsdale offers a variety of wonders for all to enjoy! Some free, others for a small cost, and some a bit more spendy, but no matter how big or small your spending budget may be, there is something to do! Get out and enjoy an activity or two while the weather is absolutely gorgeous. We are lucky to live in a place that feels like spring break everyday! It is a great place for people of all ages.

For those of us entertaining spring-breakers here are a few ideas...

Great Time

We just got home for a four day stay at Hotel Indigo, not knowing what the hotel would be like we were very pleased. The rooms were clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The service was extraordinary. All the personal were very nice and had a great sense of humor. The hotel atmosphere is not like any of the major hotel chains I have stayed at and it was a nice refreshing change. Hotel Indigo is located in downtown Scottsdale, close to great shops and dining, and is also close to the airport. I really recommend this place if you are looking for something different in a great part of town.

*~*"Happy" Monday*~*

Scottsdale is Scottsdale. Personally, I believe that you either love it or hate it, and on the rare occasion, find it just alright. To me, Scottsdale is made up of two almost completely different parts. You have your South Scottsdale/Downtown area and then you have North Scottsdale a more residential type sector. If your looking for a desert type mountain environment then North Scottsdale is for you, but if you are looking for the infamous nightlife and the center of all activity then the downtown area is where you should be!

Scottsdale is great for the shopper, party person, single guy/gal, art goer, sports person, and hotel lover. It is a beautiful area to walk around in and catch some rays as the guest said below, but it is also a unique place and one where people are very similar. It has never been known for its racial diversity and that is where it earns many of its stereotypes. It is the home of superficiality; blonde hair, VIP royalty treatment, model type bodies, risque environments, but also the home of beautiful peaceful hotels, a fantastic art gallery district, and golfers haven. In every location you take the good and the bad and in reality Scottsdale is not for everyone, but some find comfort in the known and in a place where there is a plethora of events... if it may only be the sun!  In any case life is what you make it and I think vacations are too.

I myself, love the cleanliness of the area and the look of crisp blacktop

*~*Hope that your week is wonderful and if it happens to be one of those maniac Mondays then party at Cream Stereo Lounge! It is the only industry night on Mondays in Old Town! To find out more, http://www.creamstereolounge.com/. If you happen to be off Monday or decide to take an "extra long lunch," then catch one of the last spring training games at Scottsdale Stadium. The game begins at 1:05 and the San Francisco Giants take on the Texas Ranger!

UP AND COMING...*Tempe Music Festival starts this weekend April 3rd at 3 PM. Enjoy a variety of music on the water. Headlining Friday, April 3rd is Kid Rock with Roger Clyne, Peacemakers, Pop Evil, and Cowboy Mouth and Saturday the headliner band is All American Rejects with Three Doors Down! Talk about some impressive bands! The Valley Metro is extending the light-rail hours to 12:30 AM during the festival. To find out more visit, http://www.livenation.com/

Tuesday-Sat guest

Staff friendly, if young and relatively untrained. The room was fine, however, we only had access to ONE outlet - in the bathroom. Not ok for multiple cell phone, i pod charging. $10 for a mojito seemed a bit excessive (Thursday afternoon). Scottsdale was a major disappointment. We came for sun, which was great, but the vibe was SOOO white bread boring. Especially after Miami, LA or New York. The only interesting young man was in the Diesel store trying on shirts out on the floor - awesome ink! Enjoy the hotel, but Scottsdale is too dull for my taste!
*Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation.. so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type.. I'm like, hey girl, magenta! and she's like, oh, you mean purple! and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, no - I want magenta!* ~John Mayer

I am so happy that Friday is here! This week has been one of those long long weeks, you know the ones where every morning is harder to get up then the day before and the sound of the alarm clock is dreadful?! I know that tonight will have to be comprised of movies and takeout or else I may fall asleep at the bar! Every person I talked to today was thrilled and more than ready for the weekend. I think the weather has everything to do with it and most of the time it is extremely hard to sit inside at work on a beautiful sunny day! At least when summer hits I'll dread the outdoors and be happy to be inside, even if I am working. ☺

**Be inspired this evening at Hotel Indigo. Join their Friday night fever before hitting the Scottsdale nightlife. The Divine Lounge offers $3 domestics and $4 well cocktails.**

There is a little something for everyone tonight...

*~*Thirsty Thursday*~*

**How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives~Annie Dillard**

Spring cleaning always puts me into deep thought; I find old love letters, notes, and pictures that re-open my eyes to my past. I remember the good moments, my ignorant ones, and the ones i'd rather never think about again, but the amazing part about life is that it allows for change. There is no script and we are all free, well for the most part, to do what we want. We can never foresee the future and even when we think we have everything figured out, we're thrown a curveball!

  • Curveball Event...Drop-In Thursdays at Fine's Cellar from 5 PM to 6:30 PM for $5. Every week enjoy a different on-site wine host along with a wine tasting. Guests will enjoy three to four wines and an educational overview. http://www.finescellar.com/
  • Looking for a place to go tonight?  Axis is giving a free table and bottle to groups of six or more on Thursdays!  Contact Baron at 602-295-6899 for more information
I think all of this combined makes life pretty special and exciting. There is and will always be something new and exciting to embark on, even if we are stuck in our old ways or in a rut. Remember, you can always branch out and find something new. I know that it can be hard to give up the usual, because we get comfortable, but you know what, life is all about the risks we take.

  • FOR THE MUSIC GURU or the wannabe music guru~ The famous rap/hip-hop artist Paul Wall is performing at Martini Ranch tonight at 7 PM for $20.00. For more information about this artist visit, http://www.myspace.com/paulwall

People may comment when it is "unorthodox" to them or society, but it is our life and that is the best part about them. We can take advice and one should always listen, but it doesn't mean you have to follow it. And I have come to realize that more and more.  Life is more fun and exciting when you take chances and live every minute for what it is worth!

  • An "unorthodox" event~ Chihuly: The Nature of Glass at the Desert Botanical Garden presents art, cocktails, music, and food all-in-one! The event is every Thursday through May 14th from 5:30-8 PM. The admission is $25 which includes admission, entertainment, and appetizers. A cash bar is available. So why not enjoy the perfect mix tonight!?!? http://www.dbg.org

St. Patrick's Day Facts...
~Blue not green is the color originally associated with St Patrick. “St Patrick’s Blue” is used on Ireland's Presidential Standard or flag, while the Irish Guards sport a plume of St Patrick’s blue in their bearskins. The emphasis on green is thought to be linked to “wearing the Green”, a symbol from the 18th century on, of sympathy with Irish independence.
~Until the 1970’s, all pubs were shut in Ireland on St Patrick’s Day, and the sole venue selling drink the annual dog show. Lenten fasting – and the obligation to abstain from meat – were lifted on the day, which most families would begin with Mass.
~In the United States, it's customary to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. But in Ireland the color was long considered to be unlucky, says Bridget Haggerty, author of The Traditional Irish Wedding and the Irish Culture and Customs Web site.
~The first St. Patrick's Day parade in America took place in New York City in 1762.
~Since 1962, tons of green dye are tipped on St Patrick’s Day into the Chicago river, although the quantity has reduced, for environmental reasons, from 100 to 40.

THE WEEKEND IS HERE!!  And FINALLY to anyone who had an extra long week!

*Join Hotel Indigo all weekend long in the Divine Lounge for drink specials. $3 domestics and $4 well drinks when you visit the hotel for "early bird" specials before hitting the infamous Scottsdale nightlife.*

I really wish that I could fill my days and nights with activities that I wanted to participate in and with people that I wanted to see. Instead, I work and tend to get locked into family events on days off and miss out on the game I wanted to see or the rays I wanted to catch at the pool.  It seems like this mundane routine, called life, never stops and there is always somewhere to be!  Does it ever end or does life continue to be this way until you retire or get lucky and strike at rich?  Sometimes, I literally want to pout like a child and just do what I want, but then I quickly bring myself back down to reality before acting like a fool.
The only way to get past it all, is to mix up the nights or at least the weekends with some good old fashion fun!  I don't care what the event is, heck... looking for something different?
  • Check out the 21st annual Ostrich Festival at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler!  The festival runs all weekend for only $9.  To find out more visit, http://www.ostrichfestival.com/
Even if your tired after a long day or the whole next day due to "recovering," enjoy yourself.
  • Release stress tomorrow at Martini Ranch with two great bands performing; Rocco Deluca and the Burden at 7 PM and Rock Lobster at 10:30 PM.  The first band is an alternative rock band and the second is an 80's cover band.  http://www.martiniranchaz.net/
It's funny how on the weekend or on your day off you plan on doing so much and then when you get the time off, all you want to do is sleep or relax on the couch.  I myself, will make plans and obligations and then when the evening rolls around I don't even want to leave the house!  Now I know why busy people "fall off the face of the earth."
  • How about a relaxing Sunday with Mimosas and art?  Participate and relax in the Scottsdale Arts District from 12-4 PM!

**Mark your calenders and experience the hotel that everyone is raving about.  The event is Thursday, March 19th and features live entertainment, art, and wine tasting!  Jazz music provided by DJ Seduce, art by Sabrina Peros, and Jeff Blaum, winemaker, will be pouring Chase Cellars critically acclaimed Hayne Vineyard Zinfandel.  Click the image below to find out more!

*I hope that your weekend was fantastic and that you enjoyed the rare site of clouds in Phoenix. I myself, dislike more than one cloudy day in a row and have all the sudden been freezing because the temperature hasn't reached the 80's! Sadly, as soon as the summer comes around i'll be itching to feel cold again, but for now I'll enjoy the heavenly weather that March and April brings to the valley!
The best advice for the summer is to enjoy one of the many indoor activities that Scottsdale has to offer, or a vacation/day-vacation at Hotel Indigo, where you can take pleasure in a stimulating swim and an air conditioned room.  This summer you can also stay cool with a refreshing cold glass of water in the lobby. The friendly, helpful faces will be glad to assist when your hands are full from beating the heat in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.
"Julio, who stopped what he was doing to help me pour a glass of water from the wonderful iced lemon water cooler in the foyer when he saw I only had one hand free to fill my glass."

~I laid in bed last night, thinking the most random thought as I starred into my closet. I looked at the shoes hanging on my shoe rack and started to wonder what shoe am I? Am I the polka-dot converse gym shoe, the black leather heel, the tan ballet flat, the Nike running shoe, or the beach flip flop? Could I be a combination of all four or could the combination just be my uncertainty about myself? I think our personalities are all comprised of multiple shoes, at least I hope, even though one may be worn more than others. That's what I love about Hotel Indigo, it fits every shoe, from the Converse lover to the high heel and every style in-between. "It was a great place to come home [to] at the end of the day."

*Two for one Tuesdays in the Divine Lounge are for everyone! These are drink specials on your favorite well drinks or domestic beers*

*Grammy winner Adele is performing at the Marquee Theatre tomorrow, Tuesday the 10th, at 7 PM! Catch her show while you can, many of the upcoming dates are completely sold out. http://www.martiniranchaz.net/

**Scottsdale is a city of many colors. Its sometimes judged only by its reputation for having a great nightlife, but there's much more to it than that! Yes, there might be pretty people in almost every bar and restaurant, but past the blonde hair and tan skin there is so much more! A little something for everyone, yes, kids included.
  • For the music lover, you can always catch a good band at Martini Ranch. Tonight Metalhead is the cover band and it starts at 8 PM. End the weekend with some good music, friends, and a drink or two. The price won't break the bank at only $5!
  • For the artist in everyone check out the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art with its "Seriously Funny" exhibit! Take the family to view these brilliant works of art. This new show will induce humor on some of life's most difficult issues, running daily through May 24th.
  • The wine lover should check out Kazimierz World Wine Bar. Tonight the dancer in all of us will be revealed when members of the Flamenco music and dance troupe perform their live tonight. Enjoy the Spanish guitar, maracas, and technicolor dresses. The band will invite people on stage to join in and try some moves. The event starts at 9PM and is $5. http://www.caloflamenco.com/
  • There is even something for those single guys and gals! Scottsdale Ranch Park presents Unstrung Rackets Open Tennis where single men and women meet up to play social mixed doubles. Sign-up and warm-up both begin at 6 PM.
Whether your coming to Scottsdale for business, a day vacation, or partying, Hotel Indigo offers the best of all three worlds!
"The Indigo in Scottsdale is in a very busy "night life" area." ....Perfect place to let loose as it is within walking distance to all of Old Town Scottsdale bars and Nightclubs. Even if your not familiar with the Down Scottsdale area the staff is more than willing to help you find your way! "James, who gave generously of his time to go over some local maps and gave great directions and suggestions for some local sites."
For those on business and traveling for work...."The hotel has made a good effort to limit the noise by installing and keeping the thick doors to the rooms on the lobby floor closed during the evenings."
"My 3 co-workers and myself were really impressed with the staff and the overall look and feel of the Indigo Hotel."
A place for a stay-vacation and a relaxing day at the pool..."It was clean and had a light, fresh, relaxing feel to the entire place."

*Whatever your reason may be for coming to the "world's most livable city," just remember that where you pick to stay will have an overall affect on your entire trip and that there is something for everyone in this beautiful place!*

**Everyone is raving about Hotel Indigo...
"Thank you to the fabulous staff at the hotel who made my stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were clean, modern, and beautiful. I loved the hand hole in the shower door so I didn't have to get cold while turning the shower on. Brilliant! The atmosphere was calm and cool. The food was fresh and delicious. I will highly recommend this hotel to others."

"It was an excellent experience because of the can do attitude of the staff and the decor of the rooms and hotel."

~Hotel Indigo received a CS Score of 97! Rated on arrival, hotel employees, guest rooms/bathrooms, departure, lobby area, business center, and the phitness center! If that doesn't make you want to run and check it out for yourself then I don't know what else would! Maybe their Friday night drinks specials consisting of $3 domestics and $4 well cocktails to start the evening off just right! Hotel Indigo is fabulous and it will make you feel refreshed, inspired, renewed, intrigued, hip, and cool...at least that's what everyone is saying! Enjoy "a decor that will make you smile even if traveling is all you do!"

Today I was hit with some hard life realities you know outstanding bills, family drama, work scheduling issues... basically the whole nine yards! Anything and everything that could have gone wrong today, on my day off I might add, did! In the back of my mind I should have picked up that extra shift or babysat for the afternoon, but instead I had high expectations for an afternoon off! In hopes of enjoying the beautiful spring weather that we are blessed with in Arizona, I had to sit on the phone with countless people and be put on hold several times!

Instead of meeting my friends for a spring training game, http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/Assets/documents/Downtown/STSched09.pdf, I had to sit inside! The good news for me and everyone else is that spring training games are being held all month and guess what? You can now take the Scottsdale trolley to the Scottsdale Stadium from various Old Town Scottsdale spots. Catch some lunch and a cocktail around Fashion Square Mall and jump on the trolley, which runs every ten minutes, to watch the San Francisco Giants take on various teams.   Days like today are frustrating and make me want to curl up in a ball and pretend that everything will just go away, but sadly it doesn't, and therefore I go out and enjoy a drink or two with warm, fun, and familiar faces who force me to forget about all my troubles! After a crappy day off or a long day at work and facing the many frustrations that life may bring, the last thing I want is rude and slow service when I'm trying to enjoy a cocktail or dinner with friends. I am partial to Hotel Indigo because of its fast and completely down to earth service, which can be hard to find in Scottsdale!
"I particularly wanted to thank the Hotels General manager, Mr. Wilson. We had some problems with lost luggage and after overhearing our dilemma, Mr. Wilson dropped everything to help us retrieve our bags (which we did) and in addition, he was so helpful in guiding us to nearby shops so that we could purchase some interim items. It truly made our day that a GM would make his staff and himself available to help us. I’ve never experienced that before and as a result, will come back this Hotel again!"
*To go to a place where even the general manager is willing to drop everything for their customers is absolutely incredible to me and was to this visitor as well! Tonight enjoy the Divine Lounge's happy hour and see for yourself!

*Yes, the economy is hitting so many of us, but there are a variety of free activities to enjoy in Scottsdale!
-Every Thursday night from 7-9 PM enjoy a free art walk through the Scottsdale Art District or walk through the Museum of Contemporary arts from 10 AM to 8 PM
-Friday and Saturday offer free stagecoach rides from 1 to 4 PM at the Brown and Main intersection
-Every Saturday enjoy Old Town Farmer's Market from 8:30 AM to 1 PM
And this was just to name a few! For a complete list, visit http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/downtown.asp

On Friday night some friends of mine called me up and invited me to join them in Old Town Scottsdale. I decided that I needed a change of pace and felt like it was time to break out the high heels and my "promiscuous" dresses once again. A one time regular at clubs like Axis Radius, Dirty Pretty, and Suede, I found myself with the ranks of many others and in a relationship. I quote on quote, "fell off the face of the earth," and in my boredom found myself back in my old stomping grounds. I would once again go out and face the crazy Scottsdale nightlife.

My friends on the other hand are still true-blooded "Scottsdale people," they enjoy the ear-piercing nightclubs, expensive drinks, ritzy environment, silicone tanned bodies, and the crowds of good-looking men and women. They decided on Axis Radius Nightclub where we had our VIP connection from the friends that we knew who worked there. Personally, I can't face a nightclub when I have to wait in line at the door, pay cover, wait in line again to get a drink, and ultimately in the end have nowhere to sit, but on the toilet unless a bottle is purchased. Of course a seat or otherwise known as a table aka VIP consists on paying triple for a bottle of vodka that one could buy for between $20-$40.00 at the grocery. In general your paying for a personal cocktail waitress, one or two small couches, and a table made for 2-4 people. The table usually runs you at least $100 something dollars and that doesn't include the forty-dollar plus tip your suppose to leave for your waitress... who by the end of the night disappears. There was 10 of us, because at this day and age, who can afford to go with less? We squeezed in to our small designated area and began to drink up our bottle. In the end, once the had alcohol had hit us, we had a pretty great time! I mean who doesn't love to be pushed and shoved on the dance floor with a hundred other sweaty people? When the mood is right and when and if you can just let your hair down the Scottsdale nightclubs are the place to be! Especially, when enjoying a vacation. You will experience a night like none other!

Before joining the ranks of my friends my boyfriend and I started the evening off in Hotel Indigo's Divine Lounge. The Divine Lounge is what I would call "my scene." A beautiful setting, a tranquil pool, friendly FRIENDLY service, and an engaging patio area. The minute we walked up to the hotel, before even going inside, we were greeted by an outgoing valet, then by a cordial front-desk man, and later by sociable and upbeat bartenders. We grabbed cocktails and sat outside relaxed around the bonfire. Truth be told, I didn't even want to leave the hotel as I could faintly already hear the nightclub music from the balcony. The atmosphere with it's comfortable lounge type furniture is the perfect place to catch a bite to eat or a cocktail any day of the week! I love it! Not to mention the less than two-minute walk to hotspots like The Crown Room, Pussycat Lounge, Suede, Axis Radius, and MANY MANY more!

*On Tuesdays enjoy two-for-one drink specials on your favorite well drinks or domestic beers in the Divine Lounge*
