*~*Tomorrow evening experience Brian Chartrand in the Divine Lounge for a night full of musical harmony. Every song is rooted in a classic acoustic folk tradition while pushing the limits of what a "single/songwriter" album should sound like. Releasing four albums in 2008 and working even harder this year by playing with time signatures, eastern influenced instrumentation, and major/minor chord progressions.*~*

*~*Thirsty Thursday, the "new" Saturday, and one day closer to the weekend*~*

The other day I was searching for spots where I could listen to live music while enjoying a cocktail and it was really hard to find a place, especially one that was not heavy metal or solely instrumental in the Scottsdale area! Hotel Indigo Scottsdale brings you the band PHEED every Thursday evening in the Divine Lounge. The music is wonderful, the setting brings a sense of serenity, and the lounge area set up is simply amazing. The band plays acoustical interpretations of your favorite songs.
Listen to their music on MySpace. The songs are really fantastic, http://www.myspace.com/wwmyspacecomrodny. PHEED is considered a combination of acoustic, Indie, and Rock and features the former drummer of the Gin Blossoms. The menu is "food for thought" and enjoy $5 martinis and $5 house wines during the live music performance. The acoustic jam session runs from 6 to 9 PM.

~*Looking to enjoy superb wine? Join Fines Cellar for drop-in Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 PM. The price is $5 with on-site wine tasting and a different winery host every Thursday. Enjoy three to four wines, an educational overview, and a $5 gift certificate to be used that day on food or wine.  Visit, http://www.finescellar.com/

**Beautiful Monday! Hope that you had a wonderful, relaxing, and rejuvenating weekend.**

Two weeks from tonight join Hotel Indigo in the Divine Lounge for a musician who pushes the boundaries musically!

*~*Hotel Indigo will have a very successful and talented musician in the Divine Lounge on Monday, April 27th. His name is Brian Chartrand and he is from Phoenix, Arizona. I just visited his MySpace page and his music sounds wonderful. The song "Ghosts in the Orange Blossom Air," is AMAZING! You can hear most of his songs on his MySpace page, http://www.myspace.com/brianchartrand, and download from his new solo EP "Out of The Either" for free! Visit his website and get familiar with his music before seeing him live. I promise that you will not be disappointed! For more information on Brian's projects visit, www.cdbaby.com/all/

*~*Brian has been busy, this month alone he has played/will be playing in New York, various Scottsdale and Phoenix locations, and in Massachusetts. He released four albums in 2008 and has been working just as hard in 2009 with the release of "Live at the Historic Yuma Theater." He has already begun his second project, and a third featuring Mike Florio and Mel Brown. His songs are a variety of sounds from bluesy to acoustic to a thick dance club type bass line...something for every type of music lover, with each song written in a classic, acoustic folk tradition. He pushes the boundaries of what a "singer/songerwriter" album should sound like with the latest in instrumentation, new directions, and new influences.

Thirsty Thursday

*~*The new Saturday is tonight, Thirsty Thursday! Join Hotel Indigo in the Divine Lounge with PHEED. Listen to acoustical renditions of your favorite songs while enjoying $5 martinis and $5 house wines. It is a perfect way to end the day and renew yourself from a long week before the extended holiday weekend begins. http://www.myspace.com/wwmyspacecomrodny

*Just a thought… sometimes I think that the past should really be called the forgotten or the “lets never think about it again.” As I cleaned up my room I found old pictures of me and people I never even think about or talk to anymore, but yet friends I could never live without at that time and place. It is sad how we change, move away, and lose contact. You get use to the comforts of where you live and who you know, and then sadly they change. It is hard to deal with sometimes, but growing up is a part of life and so are the stages of life.
...Find comforts of the warm, vibrant, and unique style of Hotel Indigo. A boutique hotel that will inspire, invigorate, and motivate you with a one of a kind experience in every room. If you travel a lot this hotel will provide you with the comforts of home; a relaxed setting with a couch in every room, a flat screen television for your enjoyment, and a mini workstation perfect for a laptop. Visit, http://www.scottsdalehiphotel.com/ to learn more.

Ladies get in for free and everyone receives two-for-one drinks before 11 PM. Thursdays bring a crazy party, located off 3rd and Drinkwater. Party starts at 9 PM.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

*~*Hump day Wednesday! Fortunately, we are halfway through the week and it is time to start thinking about the weekend. Ten to one you have already been thinking about it since Monday, but it is almost here! Make it a great holiday weekend...Passover and Easter are both coming our way. Relax, revive, and spend time with the ones you love.*~*

**Do not miss the hotels first ever Brazilian Love Affair night Friday! This is a new bi-weekly event held the 2nd and 4th Fridays from 7:30 – 10:30 PM! Try the Brazilian’s favorite drink Caipirinhas and listen to music by great musicians! Also enjoy fashion, art, and other various drink specials.**

~Spring has sprung here in the valley and summer is surely on its way. If the temperature and the sunny skies are not enough indication then the amount of skin, short skirts, cleavage tank tops, and daisy dukes might also give it away. The city of Scottsdale, well actually the majority of Phoenix, defines "skanky" attire much differently than other locations. In Phoenix we can get away with short shorts or a mini-skirt because the weather gets so hot that you cannot possibly wear much of anything, a plus for the single men.

  • Advice for visitors…If you are traveling to Scottsdale for spring break or for the up and coming holidays, then be sure to pull out the retired daisy dukes and bring them along, because here showing skin is more of a trend than a turn off! I mean this is a city with nightlife full of animals; cougars, jaguars, and trouts are probably the most prominent.

Another thing… if you are traveling to Scottsdale do not expect the mall, movies, or restaurants to be empty during the "work" week because hell, I am not quite sure when and how often people work in this city. I go to get a manicure on say, a Monday at 1 PM, and the place is full...go figure! Inquiring on the subject I get the response "I work from home," a lot.

I hope you enjoy my tidbits full of comic relief and nothing meant to offend anyone! All cities have their own set of jokes!

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Is it not the worse when Tuesdays feel like Mondays? That is the type of day that I am having today. Not feeling too hot, family left and I am feeling kind of lonely, and the truth of the matter...I am just not in the mood to do much work on my slowly progressing novel or anything else. What is it about Tuesdays anyway?  They are just an odd day of the week, not good for much of anything except work maybe?!  Possibly, a happy hour will make me feel better?

*Two-for-one Tuesdays at Hotel Indigo in the Divine Lounge on well drinks and domestics is always a great choice. Friendly quick service is necessary after a long day!
"Everybody was great"
"...Every single staff member has went out of their way to see if we needed anything..."
OR
...maybe some networking at Six Lounge with their appetizers and drink specials on their Society Tuesdays?
Then again
...I could always go to Native New Yorker for their wing Tuesdays...30 cent wings all day, why not?
AND IF ALL ELSE FAILS
...Kona Gril is always a winner and a social spot for happy hour from 3 to 7 PM.
  • There are always people to meet and friendly attractive faces to talk to for those looking to mingle.
That is ONLY if I make it home in time for American Idol and then 90210. I love my television shows, it actually gives me something to look forward too after a long day, being that I do not have a hubby or children yet!

What a fantastic quote..."Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."
— Eleanor Roosevelt

Monotonous Monday... yeah, one of those type of Mondays. I had guests visiting over their spring break and it was a week full of chaos, fun, and little relaxation. I thought that I would be thrilled to finally have an evening alone to do nothing, but in reality I am a bit sad. I had a full house and now it is empty... so I think I'll drown my sorrows in chinese food, reality television, and CW's series Gossip Girl.

~NCAA Basketball Championship Game is on tonight at 6 PM, Michigan State verse North Carolina. Great timing for us Phoenix fans, we get to enjoy the end of happy hour and watch the game if we are out and about! I know that I will start out watching and then eventually change the channel to catch my other shows Typical girl

Sleepless Sunday...

*As I sat around this morning trying to figure out the new social network of Twitter, I realized that there are a ton of different applications all used for different purposes. The steps seem simple, but it is still taking me a little while to get a hang of it all. I think the website is a great idea for any business and it seems to be getting a great deal of publicity. In a world full of social media websites, from Twitter to MySpace and everything in-between, life seems to be all about staying connected in the digital age. If you want to succeed in this day and age, then you have to be a part of it all. The struggle is finding followers, maintaining followers, and posting information that people are interested in reading and since I am not famous… it is hard to reach the amount of followers that some users have.

…And now it’s after midnight and I am still playing on this twitter site… it is a pretty great site and actually quite addicting.

Nevertheless, try something a little more relaxing this Monday Night

  • Monday nights at Furio in Old Town, Scottsdale hosts manicures and margaritas. For anyone who is stressing over the economy, but still wants to keep their nails looking great then this is the event to attend. Manicures are only $10 and they offer pizza and pasta for around $6 or $7! The place gets busy so arrive right away at 5 PM or after 8 PM. The event runs from 5 to 9 PM. This event is held for both men and women, so men don’t be shy!
  • Can’t make it on Monday then Salty Senorita hosts the margaritas and manicures every Wednesday in North Scottsdale for $12. This is a great place to relax and drink! The event is less crowded, but a few dollars more expensive. Both guys and girls can enjoy the experience!

~Are you on spring break or vacation and looking for that “crazy” Monday night party? Then join Toxic Monday at Zuma on Mill Ave at 9 PM. This monday features:

  • Movie premiere party for Observe and Report with Seth Rogen…will this be another success for the comedian/actor?
  • NCAA college basketball championship game will be on television

…Traveling with kids can oftentimes take the fun out of a vacation. I suppose that traveling through airports in general is very stressful; dealing with security, people everywhere, and long lines can also make vacations not so great.
In addition, walking to the gate brings a mystery, will the plane take off on time or will the electronic board have the terrifying word, “DELAYED,” on it? Will the gate have changed or can I finally take a seat before boarding the flight?

“Our travels to Arizona included over six hours of delays plus over a four hour flight.”

Next, you finally board the plane, hopefully carrying food and snacks to avoid additional charges and if lucky land a window or an aisle seat. Patiently, you then sit while everyone slowly piles onto the airplane. Hoping that the flight is smooth from then on, you anticipate that the takeoff is not delayed and that there is a gate prepared for your airplane.

“Needless to say, by the time we arrived at the hotel we were all very exhausted and not very happy.”

When finally arriving at the destination and hotel you want nothing, but smooth sailing from then on out.

“The staff at your hotel was very quick with checking us in to our room, sending us a crib for my youngest son, and offering to help in any way possible.”

This is the type of trip that we all hope to have…an enjoyable escape from the “real world” and a time to relax and enjoy family, friends, and the finer moments in life.

“Through-out our stay, every single staff member has went out of their way to see if we need anything and ensure this is a great trip for me and my family. Thank you Hotel Indigo Scottsdale.”

Thank you Nicole and family for a wonderful customer service review of 100 percent. We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon!

~Everyone was in high spirits at the spring training game with the weather today. The feel of spring is in the air. I love the downtown area so much! There is almost too much to do and see in the area. I had guests in town and I could not show them enough today, but time is always limited. We visited the Scottsdale Stadium for a spring training game, had lunch at the Pf Changs near Fashion Square Mall, enjoyed dessert at Olive and Ivy for their scrumptious strawberry-rhubarb donuts, and shopped around the area. I then showed off the Hotel Indigo and the various clubs practically adjacent to the perfectly located hotel.

....Great for visitors, residents, and guests...Looking for a sweet treat? Sugar Bowl is one of the best ice cream places in Old Town, if not in all of Scottsdale. Enjoy a sundae, flavored float, yummy ice cream cone, or even a quick lunch. The restaurant has been open since 1958 and the very same people who own it and run it, are the same people who originally opened the Sugar Bowl!
