HAPPY SATURDAY

My Friends and I at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale last fall!

One of our many beautifully designed rooms.

"Judge me all you want, but keep the verdict to yourself."

"lets toast till we die"

I hope that you're having a fantastic weekend!

I just wish this hot summer weather would go away! I think we've all had enough of the summer. I want to be able to bike ride, hike, and run outside without having to wake up at the crack of dawn-oh the winter months are heavenly here! I've been playing tennis at 7 a.m. and lets just say that I'm no morning person.

Some hot weekly deals...
  • Safeway grocery stores are having a fantastic 72 hour sale this weekend. They have some wonderful specials on beer, grapes, turkey, and a few other hot items! Be sure to check it! Also, Albertsons is selling 24 packs of Budweiser and Bud Light for $14.88 through August 25th!
  • Got a flyer for the restaurant Claim Jumper and they have a wonderful splash of summer happy hour. They have items starting at $1.50 Monday-Friday 3:30-7 PM. Items include White Sangria for $4.95, giant pretzels for $1.50, calamari for $6.75, California Quesadilla for $3.95, and many more.
  • If your craving pizza then try New York Pizza Dept. (NYPD). On Sundays they have large house or caesar salads for 99 cents wtih an order of Pasta Famiglia. Every night they offer different specials such as glasses of wine for $3.99 after 4 pm on Thursdays.
Stay cool this weekend...

Hump Day Wednesday

Happy hump day! Stop in for a mid-week cocktail, we would love to put a smile on your face and a jingle in your step with comfortable seating and friendly efficient staff.

Did you know we offer free wi-fi to all of our guests?  Book your stay before the 25th and receive wonderful prices!

*~*Scottsdale has some of the best dining and nightlife, unsurpassed by very few cities. There are many internationally recognized chefs and a wide-array of cuisine. After dinner, you will find a variety of entertainment in Old Town Scottsdale. There is more than 50 wine bars, dance clubs, and bars in the city. You will find live music, country bars with line dancing, hotels for lounging, and nightclubs. There is something for everyone and every age. Enjoy a night at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale where you can walk to just about anything in downtown Scottsdale.*~*

The temperature in the valley is slowly coming down to a reasonable degree. This morning was beautiful with the wind blowing just enough to keep everyone cool. I think the doggie paws should be safe, at least in the A.M.

Today has already been a wonderful day and its not over! Nearly, just getting started. Actually, this week is going great. I have been up early, before the sun, and it has allowed me to accomplish a lot more tasks. I am avoiding the grogginess of sleeping too much and my productivity for the week is already off my chart. All sorts of work outs, I am plugging away on my book projects, and have even found the time and energy to cook dinner after work. I even found some very informative blogs online and novels at Half-Price Books to keep my brain active and filled with much needed information.

So...yesterday I signed up for the City of Scottsdale Tennis, or let me rephrase this, I tried to sign up, but without fail, there was some sort of computer glitch. Somehow people managed to get in through back way, unfortunately, I was not one of them! Instead, I was running around like a crazy person from computer to computer to computer trying to figure out why I was having such a problem. Eventually and hours later, it worked again and by that time everything was already filled up. Now I must wait, wait, wait to get in on the wait-list. When signing up for the Scottsdale recreation classes, tennis program, volleyball, etc. make sure to sign up right away otherwise it all fills up. Although, this is not the case in the summer.

Tonight...
  • If you are craving a delicious meal then check out Morton's Steakhouse. They have a steak and seafood dinner special which runs $99 for two people. This includes a salad, a seafood appetizer, single cut filet, side item, and a hot chocolate cake or Key Lime Pie. Talk about a deal!
  • If you love music then join Cream Stereo Lounge tonight for live rock music by DJ Gareth Emery, Sean Essex, and Brooke B. The event starts at 9 PM. Wednesdays are always a fun night for this hot nightclub.
This Weekend...Are you a fan of the hit show, So You Think You Can Dance? Then join Steve Levine Entertainment and Myst Nightclub for the welcome home party featuring Brandon, Ade, and Jonathan. Not only that, but show up with the right ratio and get in for free before midnight. Entertainment by DJ J. Alan. For more information call 480-284-6033.

*~*Happy Monday*~*

Hello Monday and goodbye to another weekend. I don't know about you, but time is flying by in my life. "Life will pass you by, whether you're living it or not."  I have come to realize that more and more!

The best Monday night specials....
  • Check out Cadillac Ranch in the Tempe Marketplace. It has an amazing happy hour all night on Mondays! This all-American bar and grill is open for lunch, dinner, and late night. They have multiple plasma TV's, booths for dinner, two bars, an outdoor patio, a dance floor-for the late night fun, and of course a mechanical bull-for all the ever so "experienced" bull riders. The all day happy hour starts at 4 PM.
  • The weather is starting to cool down and Salty Senorita is always a fun place to be for happy hour and late night fun. They have one of the best outdoor patios and it is located centrally, in the heart of downtown Scottsdale. Delicious margaritas, voted "Best margarita in Phoenix" over 7 times and on Mondays their house margs are 1/2 price from happy hour until close! Also enjoy half price appetizers and other drink specials from 3-7 pm.
  • Four Peaks Grill offers $2 you-call-it from 3 to 7 pm and 10 to 1 am, daily. Their beer is amazing and they even have live entertainment every Thursday and Friday night from 5 to 6:30 pm. You should also try to catch their Sunday brunch at least once with drink specials from 10 to 2 pm.
Just found the best quote, "You can't over-dress or under-dress as long as you look like Scottsdale...." ~ Judy Hedding at About.com

Heres something new..."Doga," it is yoga for you and your dog. This event occurs monthly on the 1st Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the W in Scottsdale. Learn interactive exercises that focus on yoga stretches. This event is for all breeds, sizes, and ages.

And another fun filled yoga event would be a "Poolside Yoga Party!" This event is held monthly on the 2nd Sunday of every month from 9 am to 2 pm at the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa. The free poolside yoga class is 9-10 am, then you can relax and jam to DJ Grial from 10-2 pm. Sip on summer drink specials and enjoy resort giveaways.

Apparently it is all about yoga, yoga, yoga! The new exercise craze. A wonderful way to relieve stress.

Plan ahead for Arizona Restaurant Week 2009. This event runs September 19th through the 26th. You can receive three course dinner menus at $29 a person or $58 a couple at over 150 valley restaurants. If your a restaurant in Phoenix or Tucson and want to be involved then contact:

Apparently Bandslam with Vanessa Hudgens and Lisa Kudrow is a pleasant surprise. Go figure?
  • We also have the Phoenix Suns Dancers tryouts this weekend! Hump Day

*~*Happy Hump Day Wednesday!*~*

Well, the day is almost over and I am busy cooking dinner and relaxing like everyone else. I am resting up for another day of organizing, running errands, writing, and working. Ugh, I don't even want to think about tomorrow yet! I am trying to avoid the heat as much as possible while hoping that temperatures start to drop sooner than later. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the fall! I love coming home from work and watching my weekly televisions shows while eating dinner with the windows open and the cool breeze coming into my home. I also enjoy going for an early morning jog, or a run after work, and then sitting in the hot tub while having a drink or two. Attending a happy hour on a comfortable patio is never a bad idea either! Hotels are wonderful spots for happy hour and Hotel Indigo Scottsdale’s Divine Lounge offers a great view of Old Town Scottsdale. It is also walking distance to all of the nightlife in Downtown Scottsdale-bar hop and walk home without a worry!

Visitors and Residents...If you want a free updated map of Downtown Scottsdale which lists businesses, addresses, phone numbers, and an easy-to-use map showing trolley routes and public parking then call 480-312-7750 for locations. This directory also has a calendar of events and a dining guide. It is very handy and available in various locations including local resorts and the Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau. There is a lot to see and do, a map can surely come in handy!

If you’re going to be in town on October 4th then be sure to check out an exclusive culinary event at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Join the “Dine out with the Chefs,” for an evening of delicious food. Advance tickets are $55 and can be bought at http://www.scottsdaleperformingarts.org/. The attendance is limited and tickets at the door are $65. Plan ahead!

Are you an aspiring artist without a connection to the Scottsdale galleries? Then join this year’s 42” sidewalk event where artists can show and sell their work. Space is limited and applications can be found at http://www.artisanmarketsaz.com/

The movies 17 Again and I Love You Man just came out for rent this week. They were both hysterical and should definitely be on your movie queue. In addition, I saw Funny People this weekend and it was everything and more. It was hilarious and worth seeing if you liked The Hangover, Knocked Up, and any movie in that genre.

Valley Residents…Cox Cable has a fantastic deal on bundle packages. Get internet-12 meg, all 300 hundred channels, DVR, and two boxes for $135.00 with tax. I called today to find out about the deal and they don’t know how long it is running for, so call ASAP. It is called the entertainment package and they claim it’s better than all the other companies in the valley.

*~*Manic Monday*~*

Funny quotes for some back to school fun…

“If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers.” ~Edgar W. Howe

“Labor Day is a glorious holiday because your child will be going back to school the next day. It would have been called Independence Day, but that name was already taken.” ~Bill Dodds

...Today is back to school for the entire Scottsdale district. This may be a relief for some and a rush for others! I cannot believe how early some of the schools are starting this year, I mean especially when the weather is still triple digits, and the children are outside playing! That’s crazy and not like it use to be, when Labor Day weekend marked the beginning of the school year. Back to work for the teachers as well. I’m sure the novelty of vacation has worn off by now. I assume that it was enough sleeping in for the summer.

Are you looking for the best happy hours in the valley?
  • Are you craving a delicious brewed beer? Yardhouse is a perfect spot with their happy hour specials and large list of beers. Best thing of all? They have happy hour twice a day from 3-6 PM Monday through Friday and 10 PM to midnight Sundays through Thursday. They are located in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall and offer specials such as $3.25 pints and half off appetizers. This is a sports bar type atmosphere.
  • Do you want a long and extended happy hour? Made for those of us who take a little bit longer to get ready, then check out Mickey’s Hangover from 4 to 9 PM. All drinks and appetizers are half off. This is a younger crowd with bucket of beers discounted.

With the smell of back to school in the air, don’t forget to have a little fun before it all starts again!

  • If you’re an aspiring model then join Afterlife, formerly e4, for Phoenix Fashion Week casting call. They are looking for 30 models to work the runway during Phoenix Fashion Week. This event is tomorrow August 8th from 8 to 10 PM. Work your inner diva!
  • This Sunday Stone Rose Lounge at the Fairmount Scottsdale is having their first pool party at 12 PM. The pool is open to the public until sunset with DJs and cocktails. Should be a very good time!

**If you’re visiting the area and want to learn more about Scottsdale, the new waterfront area, the arts district, and more... then take the free cultural trolley on the second Saturday of every month. The emblem will be displayed in a prominent place on the door or window of contributing businesses. This is a good way to experience all that Scottsdale has to offer, for more information visit http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/downtown

"A three-inch rain in Phoenix means three inches between drops." ~Local Saying

"I'll take heat rash over frost bite any day."~Ken Travous…I can very much agree with this quote!

Hope that your weekend is fabulous. Mine is being spent relaxing, packing, and doing laundry! At least I am beating the heat inside with the air conditioning. Summer is almost over, but that doesn’t mean that Arizona is getting cooler anytime soon.

  • If you’re looking for live music then check out Scottsdale’s leading live music spot, Martini Ranch. Tonight has a great lineup, DJ Randy at 9 Pm and then Javier Garcia and Rock Lobster at 10:30 PM. This venue also has very well known singers who come throughout the year. For a calendar of events visit, http://www.martiniranchaz.net/calendar.php

  • Beer is always the drink of choice during the summer months. It is perfect for parties, gatherings, and good times with friends. Four Peaks Brewing Company is the local spot of choice with a peach flavored ale, malty sweet brew, and delicious beer battered fries; you can’t go wrong with this location. In the cooler months the patio is a good spot to gather with friends and family.
