Thirsty Thursday

You Know You're From Arizona If...I would say that these apply mainly to the warmer areas of the state, Crazy things you only see in the southwestern desert...
  • You think someone driving wearing oven mitts is clever.
  • The pool can be warmer than you are.
  • You notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
  • You have to explain to out-of-staters why there is no daylight savings time.
  • When someone asks how far you live from a location, it's always in terms of minutes, not miles.
For all 40 visit, http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/7-5-2001-3871.asp

*~*Stay cool this summer, beat the heat*~*
...The heat and the summer in Phoenix can be very draining. You know where I find my inspiration to stay in shape and keep motivated? The library. I know so old fashion, right? But honestly they have everything; air conditioning, self-help and cooking books, and even work out DVD's! I checked out two myself the other day. Come to think of it, places like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video should have work out DVD's for rent-that would be brilliant on their part!
  • Another thing you could do is become an avid movie goer. There are a lot of great films coming out this summer- Harry Potter, Bruno, Transformers, The Ugly Truth, Funny People, Etc. It seems as if there is a movie for everyone from science fiction to chick flicks to comedies.
  • You could visit the Arizona Science Center-www.azscience.org, with 5-story tall movies and interactive exhibits. Or learn more about the city of Phoenix at the Phoenix Museum of History-www.pmoh.org.
  • Book a hotel at Hotel Indigo Scottsdale where you can swim in our refreshing pool, drink pool side margaritas, and enjoy our Divine Lounge in the evening. The rooms are beautiful, each with their own individual design, and we are in walking distance to Scottsdale's hottest nightlife! Great rates now through the end of the summer, http://www.scottsdalehiphotel.com/reservations.php
  • Scottsdale is famous for its Southwest spas. Pamper yourself-grab a pedicure, a hot or cold stone massage, get your hair cut and highlighted, be given a facial, etc. The possibilities are endless! The best spas in the valley are most likely located in the valley resorts, but you don't have to be a guest to take advantage. The top two are probably the Phoenician Spa and the Sanctuary Spa. Heres a more descriptive list, http://spas.about.com/od/toptendayspasbycity/a/bestscottsdale.htm
Where to be tonight?!?!
  • Glitter and Grunge at Dirty Pretty with two-for-one drinks.
  • Check out Geisha A Go Go Asian Bistro's patio karaoke. This Old Town bar and chinese restaurant is worth visiting! Awesome decor and a 20-person karaoke room. You can read/sing the lyrics to over 10,000 songs!
  • Spiked Thursdays at the Desert Botanical Garden. This event is held the second week of each month.
